FIELD NOTES / SOUTH AFRICA

Identity documents and account verification

Prepare for verification by checking the operator's own requirements and using its official channels.

Ask before travelling

For a physical visit, ask whether your intended transaction needs account verification and which forms of identification and address evidence the branch accepts. A tourist's documents and a resident's documents may be handled differently. Confirm the rule for your situation directly.

Protect documents

Only submit personal documents through the operator's confirmed official process. Plantweb is an independent directory and never needs your identity document, bank statement, password or one-time code. Be cautious about social-media accounts offering to accelerate verification.

Resolve mismatches early

A spelling difference, old address or payment account held in another name can delay checks. Ask the operator how to correct a record. Do not open duplicate accounts to work around a verification problem. Keep records of the support exchange without publicly exposing private information.
